First Dive in Vinkeveense Lake

After a long and cold winter in The Netherlands, it finally happened.Nirmala is now qualified for her theory diving course, completed the swimming pool training and is now ready to play in open waters. The first dive was in the Vinkeveense Lake.
.
This was her first experience diving in open waters and this is very different from diving in tropical waters, this was cold and wet.
Viewers on the side stood with their hands deep into their pockets and laugh as Nirmala, Dirk and Marcel jumped into the water and with the startled look on their faces as their diving suit slowly filld with ice cold water. “What a sport"! Dirk began to give instructions and helping them with their lead and equipment before they submerged underwater.

I lowered myself and underwater camera into the water, I was fully prepared to make some images of underwater life in The Netherlands. But as I submerge and was following the divers , I could also feel the cold even through my dry suit. I was trying to film the descent of the divers but operating the camera was very difficult. The small buttons were difficult to operate through the thick gloves.
While Nirmala was diving with her instructor, I was filming the entire training and will continue to do until Nirmala becomes a qualified diver.

After an hour Nirmala, Dirk and Marcel resurfaced. Completely numb, they change into dry, warm clothes. Nirmala stood there still trembling from the cold; I gave her a cup of hot chocolate drink, encouraging her to go through with the second dive,” Nirmala it's not always going to be like this, in future we will be working in waters of at least 20 degrees and soon it will be even better when we set sails south, for the next sailing expedition.” I reassured her.
