Morganonline is a project of the Ocean Care Foundation
The Ocean Care Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in the Netherlands. Its mandate is to inform the general public, governments and business people worldwide about the role of the marine ecosystem in the economy and in the survival of mankind.
The ocean absorbs the bulk of carbon dioxide emissions, and creates more than 60 percent of our oxygen. It is therefore essential for our survival. Despite, or perhaps because of, 70 percent of the earth being covered by oceans, the oceans tend to be at best neglected and at worst plundered and used as a limitless dumping ground. Given the scale of the oceans, it is challenging to both internationally legislate for their protection and to enforce the legislation that does exist.
The ocean is at the core of the socio-economic development of the most powerful of the world's cities – London, Rotterdam, Barcelona, Mumbai, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore. It is furthermore central to the world's economy: transport, food, shipping, recreation.
The Ocean Care Foundation will support initiatives that further its mandate.
